Sparkling Sun Catchers brighten both inside and outside spaces!
Our Sun Catchers are made from the bottoms of recycled bottles and finished with a beaded string. They can be used inside or outside as they will not be harmed by rain. However, they will be harmed by smashing so when hung outside, they need to be placed where they will not hit or be hit by other objects.
While the Sun Catchers are mostly round, the small imperfections in the recycled bottle gives each Sun Catcher its unique shape. Sun Catchers are approximately 3” – 4”. These Sun Catchers are not suitable for fan or light pulls.
We make our Sun Catchers my cutting off the bottom of a bottle. This is done by scoring the bottle to create a scratch on the surface. Then we heat and cool the scratch until it expands into a crack running around the bottle until the bottom falls off. The bottom is then melted in a kiln until it is flat. A small hole is drilled in the flat glass for a beaded string to be attached.
Sun Catchers come in solid colors or decorated with flecks of colored glass. The flecks of colored glass are applied to the clear glass bottle bottom before it goes in the kiln. This fuses the flecks of colored glass onto the bottle bottom making it permanent. Check out our product listings on the Faire Wholesale website or contact Wine Bottle Art for a list of colors.
